4 peaks of Siguniang Mountain.

1st peak of Siguniang Mountain.

The local calls this peak “elder sister”, but it is the lowest peak of the 4 peaks. The attitude of the peak is 5355M. And there is no plant between 4000M to summit, and it is alpine grassland under 4000M. A lot of yaks and sheeps are living on the grassland. The snow season is from October to April next year, and the snow can be 1 meter thick during autumn or spring. This peak is also the easiest peak to climb in Siguniang Mountain. You will need to trek/ride a horse to base camp in Hailuogou in D1, and march to the peak on D2. Then back to Rilong town on D2 or D3.

2nd Peak of Siguniang Mountain.

2nd peak is right next to the first peak to the north. And it will be little bit harder to climb than the 1st peak, 5454M. To climb the 2nd peak, you will also need to stay at the 1st peak base camp for a night. Then go around 1st peak and hit the 2nd peak on D2. After that you can retreat to the camp near Grand Lake and Flower Lake, both of the lakes are formed by melted ice from snow peaks. The flower will blooming at end of June to early August here, which makes the lakes very beautiful. And there are some special alpine fishes living in the lakes, that makes these lakes heaven for fly fishing.

3rd peak of Siguniang Mountain

This peak is a peak for old birds. 5664m, not much higher than the 1st and 2nd peak, but to climb this peak, you need to set the camp at about 4000M in Changping Valley. Which means you will need to climb straight up 700M from Changping Valley to the camp on D1, and 1600M straight up on D2 when hitting the summit. There is no way to use a horse during this climb, you need to carry your own stuff or hire more assistants. And the best part is after you reach the summit, there is more than 2000M decend to test your knees.
